  5. MELODY A series of notes sounding in succession. Notes of a melody are created to respect pitch systems such as scales. Go Back Continue

  6. RHYTHM Arrangement of sounds in time. Rhythm is one of the most central features of many styles of music, especially jazz and hip-hop. Go Back Continue

  7. PITCH Pitch is determined by the sound’s frequency of vibration. It refers to the highness or loudness of a given tone. Process of assigning note names to pitches called tuning. Go Back Continue

  8. HARMONY Harmony is the relationships between pitches that occur at the same time. The relationship between two pitches is referred to as an interval. Continue Go Back

  9. TEXTURE Texture is the overall sound of a piece of music according to the number of parts/lines of music. The texture of a piece is also affected by the number of instruments. Go Back Continue

  12. STAFFS Treble Cleff – Most commonly used through instruments such as; bagpipes, violin, trumpet, guitar, and flutes. Notes from bottom-to-top E,F,G,A,B,C,D,E,F Bass Cleff – Placed on the fourth line and used by bass, cello, trombone, and tuba. Notes are G,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,A. Go Back Continue

  13. QUARTER NOTES Symbol is a closed circle with a tail and is ¼ of the length of a bar, which means it’s a quarter note. A Sample of a quarter note.. Go Back Continue

  14. WHOLE NOTES Symbol is an open circle with no tail. In standard time, this would be held for an entire bar. Sample of a whole note Go Back Continue

  15. HALF NOTES Symbol is an open circle with a tail and is held for half of the bar. Sample of half notes Go Back Continue

  16. EIGHTH NOTE Symbol in a series is a closed circle with a connecting tail or closed circle with a drooping tail for a single note. You can fit 8 notes in a single bar. Sample of eighth notes… OR Go Back Continue
