Roughing D. 4 Flutes w/out hole (center cutting) E. 2 Flutes w/out hole (center cutting) Ball end mill bit F. 4 Flutes G. 2 Flutes Example Mill Slot Cut Rules of Thumb to follow:-Mill bits with a hole can not be used to plunge-4 flute mill bits are used for harder materials ie. Steel-2 flute mill bits are used for softer materials ie. Aluminum -Ball end mill are used when a 3D contour is desired-Mill bits are precision tools with exception of roughing mill bits
