3. In the story. . . David is a 12 year old boy from Bentrock, Montana. In the story he represents youth and innocence, “I was still child enough to believe, as children do.” this can be seen when David eavesdropped to find out that uncle Frank, his hero, has committed crime against Native Indian girls. By eavesdropping it shows readers that he was a curious boy and wanted to know everything that involved grown ups.

4. What is the character’s appearance? In the story, Montana 1948, David, who is the main character, has an appearance of an 12 year old boy. Although in the beginning of the story, he is shown to be a 52 year old man, who looks back in his life forty years ago. “The summer of 1948 . . . Forty years ago.” What strengths and weaknesses does the character have? David weaknesses was that he wanted to take the easy way out and kill his uncle instead of thinking about the consequences like his father, Wes. “Did I wonder what might happen if I kill my uncle. 5. David’s strengths is that he is helpful. He tried to help his father, Wes, by telling him it was his uncle who killed Marie Little soldier and he was brave to do that as there might be possibilities that his father might not believe because of his age.
