  4. Clarify Objectives • What are you trying to accomplish? • What is the message you wish to convey? • How do you want to say it? • Who do you want to reach? • Messages should promote your program

  5. Lock on Target! • Focus on • A topic/subject/issue • An audience • A population • A location

  6. Use the Right Vehicle • Get to know your town and its residents • Do a survey about municipal services • What method will work best? • Electronic • Flyers • Workshops • Newspapers

  7. Partners • Find local spokespeople • Work with local businesses • Other Municipal services

  8. Measure Results • Important for future program needs • Can help with budgeting • This is rarely done • Can give value to a program
