  1. NATIONAL REPORT ON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL STATUS IN CZECH REPUBLIC AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO IAEA JIRI PLISKA I&С ENERGO Technical Working Group on Nuclear Power Plant Instrumentation and Control Vienna, May 2009

  2. CONTENT • Major projects at the NPP Dukovany and NPP Temelin • I&С system refurbishment project at the NPP Dukovany • Other I&С projects at the NPP Dukovany • Recommendation to IAEA

  3. Main projects NPP Dukovany– two important and closely interlinked long-term projects of large scale: • 16 TERA safely; to achieve yearly production of 16 TWh by 2013 • Long Time Operation (LTO); to operate NPP beyond the designed service life term = 2015it means to 2025 or 2035 or 2045 NPP Temelin • 15 TERA safely; to achieve yearly production of 15 TWh by 2012 All of those projects incorporate a number of partial projects and They are a part of a general business plan of the ČEZ – Reduction of emissions and increase in efficiency

  4. 16 TERA Safely The main goal of the project is an increase in efficiency and power output – to achieve yearly production of 16 TWh by 2013 and to maintain it for at least 20 years by utilization: • reservesof NPP Dukovany original project, • experience of personnelwith the management of outage on condition that the nuclear power plant retains its place among the best rated nuclear plants in the world, especially in the field of safety and operation indicators. Project involves a number of partial projects aimed at increasing the output and production by means of equipment modernization, reduction of outage time and improvements in Load Factor (LF) These partial projects are incorporated under a single umbrella project.

  5. 16 TERA Safely (continue) The project partial goals involve: • an increase in output of the individual blocks to 500 MWe, • a reduction of outages by 35 days a year on average The modifications to equipment include mainly: • a replacement of the LP parts of the turbines • a replacement of the HP parts of the turbines • a modernization of the block transformers and the transformer monitoring system • a modification of the generator stators • changes of algorithms I&C M1, M2 • an upgrade of the core surveillance system Scorpio

  6. ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW • I&C project involves those unit control systems: • RSBP – Primary circuit systems and equipment part (M3) • RSBT – Turbine part (M4) • RSBS – Secondary circuit systems and equipment part (M5) • IS DIAG – diagnostic and information system for M345 • MCR / ECR – corresponding modifications to the main control rooms and emergency control rooms

  7. ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW Platforms,Safety category A, B, C (, N): HW for Technological level (A) – Automating system ZAT–RA, HW for Technological level (B) – Automating system ZAT–PRIMIS, HW for Technological level (C) – Automating system ZAT–DV, HW for Process level (C) – Automating system ZAT–FS with computer stations and servers of industrial design, HW for Operator (HSI)level (C) – Automating system ZAT–FS with computer stations of industrial design, SW for Technological level (B) – Operating system OS–9000 and applications for creating, managing and maintaining of projects PERTINAX IDE, SW for Process level (C) – Operating system MSW/XP and a high-performance industrial computer server (VS) with computing modules, SW for Operator(HMI) level(C) – Operating system MSW/XP and MS SQL server, Wonderware InTouch and Wonderware Industrial SQL server.

  8. ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW Concept: Concept maintains the existing concept of division into three mutually independent systems (divisions), non-system, MCR, ECR

  9. ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW • Disposition, Function: • Disposition of new systems remain the same in comparison to current one • Scope of functions is maintained with an exception: • - new turbine regulation (shift of the limit between the electric and hydraulic part of the turbine regulation) • - self-diagnostics • - periodic testing

  10. ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW • Communication: • deterministic, independent on technology state communication • redundant optical ring for safety category B • redundant optical ring for safety category C • SDL from system of higher safety category to the system of lower category

  11. M345 Refurbishment (continue) Schedule:  - short outage  - long outage

  12. 1st OUTAGE

  13. 2nd OUTAGE

  14. 3rd OUTAGE

  15. 4th OUTAGE

  16. 5th OUTAGE

  17. FINAL

  18. Others I&С projects at NPP Dukovany • Cabling management system • Transformer monitoring system • On-line monitoring system • SCORPIO system modernization

  19. Recommendation to IAEA Cabling management system • Topic Common language for unified description of complex cabling systems. • Motivation Cabling system belongs to the critical subsystems of NPPs. It covers both electric systems and I&C systems. • Goal To create a common language for unified description of complex cabling systems using the ISO 15926 approach and principles. (Generic Data Model and Reference Data Library)

  20. Recommendation to IAEA (continue) • Measurement reliability and accuracy • Topic Measurement reliability and accuracy enhancement • Motivation Measurement reliability and accuracy is a permanent and serious requirement of I&C system functions to ensure safety, reliability and economic goals of NPP operators • Goal To elaborate an analysis of available methods based on advanced data processing and process simulation and designed to improve measurement reliability and accuracy. On the basis on this analysis to give recommendation and guideline for using these methods to operators, regulators and vendors
