  3. Anger—A deadly sin? FAUSTUS.What art thou—the third? WRATH.I am Wrath. I had neither father nor mother: Ileapt out of a lion's mouth when I was scarce half anhour old; and ever since I have run up and down theworld with this case of rapiers, wounding myself whenI had nobody to fight withal. I was born in hell; andlook to it, for some of you shall be my father.

  4. Anger—a neutral emotion? • Jesus was angry • Paul was angry • Moses was angry • David was angry • John the Baptist was angry • God the Father is angry • Jesus’ disciples were angry

  5. Murder—Malice Aforethought • Starts in our mind • Grows in our heart • & finally finds its outlet in our deeds • Penalty—Death

  6. …but I only thought it… • Jesus shows His understanding of the human heart—Jer. 17 v 9 • Jesus understands the effect it has on us & relationships—thought, word & deed. • Jesus distinguishes between mild & serious insults Matt 7 v 1 • Beware of literally applying every word—Biblical hyperbole
