  2. Functions • The main function of the immune system is to fight off bad and harmful viruses and bacteria. POW!!!

  3. Its parts • The immune system includes the spleen. The spleen is located at the top part of the abdomen, and used for filtering blood. • Another main part of the immune system is the lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are small structures that filter fluids.

  4. Its Parts, continued • Another main part of the immune system is the thymus. The thymus is located at the base of the throat and it is what some people call “the Adam's apple”. When people hit puberty it grows.

  5. Corresponding Systems • The immune system works with the circulatory system, because the main route that the immune cells travel is the blood vessels. • Another system is the Skeletal system. It helps fight Rheumatoid arthritis. • The immune system works with all of the systems because every system can get an infection and the immune system is there to treat it.

  6. Fun Fact #1 • While the body needs some sunlight to produce vitamin D, too much sunshine can suppress the immune system.

  7. Fun Fact #2 • Getting under 5 hours of sleep a night has been shown lower your immune function.
