Definition • Judgment- is an Assertion or a statement about something that a reader makes about information given in a text. • Assertion- is based on evidence such as facts, examples, and quotations. • When making an assertion a reader must evaluate the evidence to determine if it is reliable and valid. • Judgments or assertions should be supported by evidence the writer presents.

  3. To Make a Judgment • Think about the evidence the author presents • Think about how reliable the evidence is • Make an assertion based on the evidence.
