  3. Note 3 • T: I was sick yesterday. HE • Class: He was sick yesterday. • T: Negative. • Class: He wasn’t sick yesterday. • T: We. • Class: We were not sick yesterday. • Late, early, absent, sick, tired, worried, happy, cold.

  4. Note 4 • I was born on October 27th. I was born in Russia. • How about you?

  5. Exercise 1 • Award= a prize • Do well= to be successful • Chemistry= the science the studies different chemical elements

  6. Exercise 2 • Go from rags to riches= to become very rich after starting life very poor. • Founder= someone who starts a business, company, or organization. • Fit in= to be accepted by other people in a group • Real estate= property (houses, land) • Give up= to stop trying • Rebuild= to start again from the beginning

  7. Exercise 3 • Bilingual= who speaks 2 languages • Powers= natural or special abilities to do something • Attempt= the act of trying something • Best seller= a very popular book that many people buy

  8. Exercise 6 • Read the sentences. What is this story about? • Underline verbs: gave, made, tore, felt, said, found. • What are their base forms?

  9. Picture Story • Organize the pictures in a story. • Glue the pictures in the correct order to a piece of paper. • Write a story about what happened in the pictures using Past Simple. • Use introductory words: First, Then, After that.

  10. Picture Story • Listen to the stories of other groups and put the pictures for their story in the correct order. • Compare the order with another group.

  12. Chart story • Complete the charts about Alex, Myra, Don, and Ken. • To do that, ask your partners the question: • What did ___do in ___? • Example: What did Myra do in the first half of 1986?

  13. Chart Story • Why did Alex throw himself under a train in London, August 1987? • Why did Myra fall from high building and die in London, July 1987? • Why was Don arrested in Paris, September 1987? • Why did Ken adopt Myra’s baby in Paris, December 1987?
