What is Google Analytics? • System for collecting and analyzing statistics relating to visitors to the website • Each visitor is tracked • Information is collected about: • How many times the site is visited • How many visits are repeat visitors • What pages on the site are viewed • How long they stay on the site • How they found the site (URL, search, referral) • Whether the visitors complete defined tasks (e.g., making a purchase, posting a message) Google Analytics Report John L. Value of Google Analytics • Assess marketing and search engine optimization: • How many new visitors are we getting? • How do they find us? • Are the visitors potential members? • Assess website design: • How many visitors come back? • Does the site entice exploration? • What parts of the site are actually being used?
