  3. Site Ranking I gave this site a ranking of 4 stars. This internship fulfilled the high expectations I had for it and gave me a great insight to the sponsorship world of sport. The only reason I did not give this site a ranking of 5 stars was because I was unable to participate in many game day events such as football or basketball since it was offseason for every sport. I would recommend future interns to pursue this internship even more if they are interning in the Fall or Spring semesters.

  4. Pictures This slide includes pictures of UH facilities and sponsors of UH athletics.

  5. Words of Wisdom Be Prepared. • Introduce yourself to as many people as you can whether that be in another department, a client, or anyone else, because you never know who might need extra help with something and that could be a great opportunity for you. • Having an open mind an willingness to do the dirty grunt work usually does pay off.

  6. Internship Objectives Overall: To provide general assistance in the workplace while gaining an appreciation and better understanding of the sports sponsorship landscape in a college setting. • Service and fulfill sponsor contracts by collecting print ads, radio spots, billboards, and radio live mentions as football season draws nearer. • Attend sales meetings and provide assistance when needed. • Research other sports marketing ideas to sell at UH and generate as many leads as possible by listening to the radio, watching TV, view billboards, ect. • Create new binders to file hard copies of 2010-2011 contracts and scan all contracts to be stored on shared server. • Assist with other administrative duties when needed and proved Game day Supervision when available.

  7. Daily Activities A day in the life… • Wake up 7:15 • Leave house at 8:00 in order to get to work at 9:00 • Arrive at work and see if there is anything that is needed to go to other offices to be dropped off. (Mail, packages, messages…) • Morning: Work on any of the miscellanous projects my Co-Workers have me working on including research on other schools, scanning contracts, filing contracts, and working on other documents and spreadsheets • Lunch time: Usually go out to eat with the other guys and eat at one of our sponsors locations for free. • Afternoon: Attend sales calls or meetings with other department personal • Leave work at 5:00 to get home after 6:00

  8. Project Summary Social Media and College Sport Sponsorship. • Research what other Universities, professional teams, and leagues have worked with and created in regards to social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin and if there is any extra inventory that could be developed and sold here at ISP Houston. • Results: Social media websites can best be used to promote extra footage and a “behind the scenes look” at teams, leagues, and players that they would not get from any other news source.
