  11. Mechanism: Environmental Procedure Clauses • Incorporate text of procedures directly into contract document • Environmental Procedures are stored on the ARC • Ensure that SEMS requirements in contracts are met • Enforcement under contract requirements • Report project metrics

Environmental Procedures Region 8 Sustainability & Environmental Management System Revised: Feb. 28, 2011 NOTES: (☼ Insert the entire procedure into the Statement or Scope of Work) 90-Day Storage Area: Old construction material being demoed may contain hazardous materials (e.g. dry wall: asbestos, paint: lead, electrical: PCB ballasts) Asbestos Management may only require Asbestos Awareness training. Infrastructure, non-surface features. Electrical projects outdoors may require excavations and therefore a dig permit. Pre-Demolition is conducted by the GSA PM, report of findings given to contractor. Facility Solid Waste Management pertains to the removal of trash from office areas. Roofing: Old roofing may contain asbestos and the flange or trim heavy metals.

Practical Considerations • Make sure you are using the most current version of the Environmental Procedures Clauses • Choose the clauses that apply to your project, remove extraneous clauses, check formatting and save • Insert to body of Contract document or save as PDF and attach as an Appendix (with SOW, wage determination document etc.)

Practical Considerations • Be thoroughly familiar with the Environmental Procedures • When problems come up: • Review the Contract • Contact the appropriate person to report problems (Environmental Program Group) per the Environmental Procedure clause • Report to the Contracting Officer (if you are not the C.O.) • Interface with the Project Manager and COR • Report project metrics as required
