  3. SARS·GRID:  Overview SARS stands for Scheduling and Reporting System. SARS·GRID is a multi user scheduling program that is being used by school counseling centers and other offices that are automating their scheduling activities.  Using SARS·GRID makes it easy to find an available appointment slot, schedule the appointment, print and/or e-mail appointment receipts, and view reports.   

  4. SARS - Benefits • Appointment scheduler • Customizable for every office • Keep counselor notes – “Notepad” • Print appointment “receipts” for students • Create reports outlining student data, reason and schedule codes and group appointments

  12. SARS - Implementation • SARS must be implemented by December 2009 • Counselors will be on their own Location without sharing notes • Further discussion on sharing of counselor notes

Counselor “Notepad” • The System SARS team is working on note protocols, discussion to date include: • Concerns: • Contents of notes could work legally against the colleges • Is it fair that counselor’s notes are viewed by all counselors across system? • Notes are subject to being subpoenaed • Student privacy • Benefits: • Sharing of notes for seamless transitions between campuses • Other offices like Deans of Student Services would find it helpful when dealing with conduct concerns • Both positive and negative “alerts” could be made • Contents of notes could protect the colleges legally

Future of SARS • Once all the data is kept on one server system wide, we can get regular data feeds from banner • SARS- GRID – Sharing of notes across system • E-SARS – Capability of students making appointments online • SARS Alert- Program where instructors can alert counselors or other support staff of students’ performance, ie: multiple absences or behavior issues
