  1. SWHS 2011 Fall Testing • Meet & Greet Friday, September 16 • Report to homeroom at 7:30 and then an announcement will be made to go to your homeroom testing location for approximately 20 minutes. • TESTING: • Day 1- Tuesday, September 20, 2011 • Day 2- Wednesday, September 21, 2011 • Report directly to your testing location on these two days.

  2. Summary of Schedule Tues 9/20 Wed 9/21 Both practice and actual tests may be used for intervention purposes. *Sophomore homeroom teachers need to write down the names of students who need to borrow a yellow calculator and send to Mrs. Watkins asap!

  3. Freshman PLAN • Tuesday, September 20, 2011 • Report to testing location for attendance then do Non-test items for PLAN. • At 9:00 am, go to activity in gym with Mrs. Norman. • Wednesday, September 21, 2011 • Report to testing location for attendance and take the practice PLAN test. English 50 items-30 min Math 40 items-40 min Reading 25 items-20 min Science 30 items-25 min

Sophomore PLAN • Tuesday, September 20 • Report to testing location for attendance, then go to activity in gym w/ Mrs. Norman. • At 9:00 a.m. return to testing location to do Non-test items for the PLAN. • Wednesday, September 21 • Report to testing location for attendance then take the PLAN. English 50 items-30 min Math 40 items-40 min Reading 25 items-20 min Science 30 items-25 min

  5. Benchmarks* 50% chance of B or better or 75% chance of C or better in college

  6. Junior ACT & ASVAB • Tuesday, September 14 • Report to testing location for attendance then do practice timed ACT. • Wednesday, September 15 • Report to testing location for attendance then go directly to the auditorium for the ASVAB. • All juniors take the ASVAB unless they turned in a signed form by September 9 saying they did NOT want to do so. The ASVAB links achievement to interests.

  7. Senior ASVAB & COMPASS • Tuesday, September 20 • Report to homeroom for attendance, then go to the auditorium for the ASVAB. • All Seniors take the ASVAB unless they turned in a signed form by September 9 saying they did NOT want to do so. The ASVAB links achievement with interests. • Wednesday, September 21 • Do Compass practice tests (online) in homerooms then report to gym for activities with Mrs. Norman by 9:00am. • Seniors who did NOT meet benchmarks on ACT as Juniors will need to take the COMPASS next semester.

  8. Accountability • Scores for all tests and practice tests may be used for intervention purposes at SWHS. • PLAN Scores will be used for school accountability at the national level for No Child Left Behind in Reading and Math & school PLAN Scores may be published. • ASVAB & COMPASS scores are used as indicators of improvement related to college and career readiness. Often post-secondary schools use the COMPASS for placement.

  9. Fall Good Faith Effort • Good Faith Effort for Fall Testing 9/20 and 9/21 will be earned by each student who does the following: • Is present and on-time each day (doctor/dental notes only) • Listens as teacher reads directions • Reads each question carefully and answers all questions • Uses testing time well (does NOT put your head down before you finish, goes back and checks work) • Is respectful and non-disruptive

Rewards from Spring 2011Juniors & Seniors • Exemption Passes for Dec. 2011 midterm will be distributed to this year’s Junior & Senior students who earned proficient or distinguished in the Spring of 2011.* • One pass for each distinguished score • One pass for combined proficients *Any student receiving a pass must also receive good faith effort for Fall 2011.

  11. Rewards for Fall 2011Freshmen & Sophomores • Exemption Passes for Dec. 2011 midterm will be distributed to this year’s Freshmen & Sophomores who meet benchmarks on PLAN for Fall 2011. • One pass for meeting one or two benchmarks • Two passes for meeting three or four benchmarks

  12. Go Spartans! • Get some rest the night before each test • Do NOT be absent if at all possible / Be on time • Put forth your best effort • Answer all parts of all questions-Guessing on the PLAN test is not penalized • Bring a calculator with fresh batteries
