  1. Yearbook Coverage How to Determine What Is On Every Page Of Your Yearbook

  2. What should you include in the book? Deciding what is on every page of the yearbook may seem like a huge task…but it is easier than you think • Make sure your approach is balanced in coverage & fair to all groups/people on campus • Make sure to set aside pages for your title page, section dividers, opening, and closing. • Organize your yearbook into 6 areas • Portraits: all students and adults on campus • Sports: all athletic events for all grades • Clubs/Organizations: all groups on campus that are either service, task, or topic affiliated • Student Life: all school-wide functions and activities that include all student populations • Academics: all curricular classes or academic accomplishments of school • Advertisements/Community: Defined by your goal of set # of pgs

  3. Tools you will need… The best method to use in choosing what to include on your yearbook pages involves having the proper tools. Before you plan your book, make sure you have: • Sample yearbooks from other schools for review • Last 3 or 4 yearbooks from your school • Calculator to determine %’s of sections • List of all club sponsors & clubs • List of all coaches & teams • List of all teachers and classes • Multiple Blank Ladder Diagrams to work out ideas

  4. Ideas on Page Allotments Deciding how many pages to give to each section is based upon your school. No two schools are alike, but most schools follow a simple formula. Consider the following: • Portraits: 25% - 30% of pages • Sports: 15% - 20% of pages • Clubs/Organizations: 15% - 20% of pages • Student Life: 20% - 25% of pages • Academics: 15% - 20% of pages • Advertisements/Community: Defined by your goal of set # of pgs • Be aware that some schools like to have specialty sections like a SENIOR WILL section or a CURRENT EVENTS section. Plan for those page properly • Also, make sure you set aside a set # of pages for the title page, opening, divider pages, & closing pages. These pages usually discuss your theme
