PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM a) PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCEDURE 3D Model ( PRO-E, IDEAS,UG ) Optimization of Gating ( Flow Analysis) Optimization of Cooling Lines ( Solidification Analysis) DIE Manufacturing (via TEBIS / Del-CAM) Tool Layout Die Casting Production Casting Machining
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM a) PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCEDURE • Receipt of 2D / 3D Data as Soft Copy / Hard Copy with Estimated Volumes. • Feasibility Study • a) Deciding the Process (PDC / GDC), • b) Customer Drawing Study. • c) Deciding Suitable Equipments (Suitable Machine, Fixtures, Gauges, Tooling, Testing Equipments etc), • d) Identifying Special Characteristics, Special requirements like heat Treatment, leakage Testing, Shot Blasting, Vibro Finishing, Cleaning / Millipore Value, etc. • e) Technical Review with the Customer and freezing their requirements. • Cost Estimation and submission to the Customer. • Receipt of Purchase Order from the Customer. • Management Approval. • Formation of CFT Team and Project Kick Off.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM a) TOOL DESIGN GATED PROCESS 2 D DRAWING METHOD GATE LAYOUT GATE MODELLING GATE SIMULATION GATE DESIGN APPROVAL GATE WORK ORDER GATE
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM b) Challenges Faced During New Product Development by CFT Approach. • Even after receipt of Purchase Order, Technical Data Freezing takes more time from the customer. • Variance between 2D Drawing, 3D Data and Sample. • From RFQ stage to Purchase Order finalization, Customer may take his own sweet time and later on create urgency and excessive pressure to shorten the Development Time. • Lot of Audits by Customer / External Agencies before order finalization. • Corrections and Modifications are required quite often in the product model for making it friendly for manufacturing. (Eg: Modification of Draft Angle, Radii, Parting Lines etc). • Undue Time Pressure from customer during Development Stage. • Frequent modifications and changes in the product specifications by the Customer during Development stage. • Some Customers are reluctant to accept suggestions by Supplier which are helpful in improving Product Quality.. • Persons responsible for Vendor Development, Purchase and Quality Control are different and have different Technical and Commercial requirements. • After Sample submission, Customer takes more time for Testing, Validation and Product Approval.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM b) Challenges Faced for Developing New Products for Export. • Technical Clarification from overseas customers takes more time . • Communication barrier. • Dimensional Variations due to Climatic Conditions. • Handling Damage during Shipment. • Packing Norms are stringent and difficult to maintain. Eg: Eco – friendly Packing.. • Incase of urgency we need to change the mode of transport, which is expensive. (Air Freight)
