  1. Select Team Man Up Offense: Big Red

  2. Big Red: Level of Play • Level of Play (Big Red) Big Redis the most basic man up available in the curriculum and every team should be able to execute it. It is an extremely simple play but be effective at all levels because it ends up in a 1-3-2 with an easy read for the player at X.

  3. Big Red: Set Up • Set-up (Big Red) Big Red starts in a 3-3 and ends up in a 1-3-2. X1 and X3 start on the high right and left wings about 12 yards in front of the GLE and 7 yards to the side. X2 aligns himself in the middle of the field about 15 yards above the GLE. X5 is on the crease about 3-5 yards above GLE. X4 and X6 are on the left and right wings about 3-5 yards above GLE and approximately 7 yards to the side…

  4. Big Red: Set Up • Set-up (Big Red Continued) X2 should be a good ball-handler and decision maker. X4 should be left-handed if possible. Ideally, X1 and X3 have good outside shots and X5 is a good crease player.

  5. X4 X6 X5 X3 X1 X2 Big Red: Set-up

  6. Big Red: Execution • Execution (Big Red) The ball moves around until it gets to X2 at the top middle. X2 throws to X1 and then immediately cuts down the right side of the crease. X1 throws a small pump fake to X4 and then throws across the field to X3. X3 steps in to draw the defense (he can shoot if no one picks him up) before moving the ball to X6 who rolls up a little to increase their shooting angle.

  7. Big Red: Execution • Execution (Big Red Continued) The ball moves around until it gets to X2 at the top middle.

  8. Big Red: Execution • Execution (Big Red Continued) By this time, X2 should be behind the goal at X. When X6 gets the ball, X5 wants to cut up and to the ball and X4 wants to start driving down to the backside pipe. X6 should step in to draw the defender (he can shoot if no one picks him up) before moving the ball to X2 who is behind the goal on the right side.

  9. X4 X6 X5 X3 X1 X2 Big RedExecution

  10. When X2 gets the all he can sneak around the crease if no one slides. Pass to X5 cutting towards him on the crease. Throw cross-crease to X4 on the backside pipe if the defense slides coma and fail to recover from the top down. Throw a skip pass to X1 or X3 for the outside shot. If the adjacent defender covering X6 tries to recover X2 should feed X6 for the outside shot. Big Red Execution

  11. Big Red: Final Thoughts • Big Red: Final Thoughts After the initial movements happen and a shot takes place, the team wants to stay in the 1-3-2 formation and play out of it. X2 should push the sides and play with the adjacent attackmen and then look for his skip lanes.
