  2. Single Invert: Level of Play • Level of Play The single invert is suited for teams at all skill levels. The movements are simple and should be easy for players of any age group to learn and understand.

  3. Single: Set Up • Set-up Single is an “invert” offense in which a midfielder, X1 goes behind the goal and initiates the offense with a 1v1 dodge. While X1 is dodging the five other players are all moving in unison to create natural passing lanes, cause confusion amongst the defense, and provide outlets for the ball carrier…

  4. Single: Set Up • Set-up (Continued) In “Single” A1 starts on the low crease approximately 3 yards in front of the goal in the middle of the field. M2, M3, A2 and A3 line up in a “T” formation with one player on the high crease (7-9 yards in front of the goal), two on the right and left wings, and the final player at the top of the “T” (13 yards in front of the goal). Placement of players should be made depending on individual strengths.

  6. Single: Execution • Execution This offense starts with a 1v1 dodge from M1 at “X”. On the dodge A1 mirrors M1. If the defense slides early and there is no second slide, A1 will be open for an easy draw and dump. If the second slide does come A1 moves first to the backside and then behind the goal to provide back-up on all shots and an outlet for M1 if he’s turned back at the goal-line…

  7. Single: Execution • Execution (Continued) The three ball-side players (X1, X2 and X3 in this case) perform a triangle rotation. X1 cuts toward the middle of the field looking for the feed while leaving sufficient room for M1 to dodge. X3 rolls over the top to the ball-side to provide an outlet for M1. X2 pops directly up the middle creating a skip pass lane. X4 wants to read the play and drift either high or low depending on what area becomes vacant…

  8. Single: Execution • Execution (Continued) If the initial dodge is unsuccessful, then M1 wants to either roll back and outlet the ball to A1 at “X” or he wants to move the ball ahead to X3 who has rolled over to the ball-side to provide an outlet.

  10. If M1 is unable to get a shot, he should look to the crease for A1, then he should look to X1 on the cut, X3 on the roll-over, X2 for a skip. If none of those is available, he can roll back and outlet the ball to A1 at “X” Single (M1 Dodging From X)

  11. Single: Execution • Execution (If M1 Throws to X3) If M1 dodges and moves the ball ahead to X3 rolling over the top, X3 should look to the crease and then move the ball to the back side for X4 on the re-dodge.

  12. When X3 receives the pass from M1, he will look first to the crease, and then move the ball to the back-side. When he receives the pass from X3, X4 wants to look to the crease. If that’s not open, he should re-dodge for himself. Single (If M1 Throws to X3)

  13. Single: Execution • If M1 Throws Back To A1 If M1 throws back to A1, then A1 wants to attack the weak-side by dodging for a shot or to feed an open player.

  14. When A1 receives the pass from M1, he should attack the back-side looking to score and feed. Single (If M1 Throws to A1)

  15. Single: Final Thoughts • Single: Final Thoughts Single can be performed with a dodge in either direction. If M1 drives to his left, the ball-side rotation occurs on the right side of the cage, A1 rolls off to his left. Additionally, “single” can be used as a regular offense with an attackman dodging from “X” instead of a midfielder.

  17. Classic: Level of Play • Level of Play “Classic” is suited for teams at all skill levels. The movements are simple and should be easy for players of any age group to learn and understand.

Classic: Set Up • Set-up This is a 2-4 offense that initiates behind the goal with the remaining four players cutting in front of the goal to put pressure on the defense, create space for the dodge, and provide and outlet for the ball carrier. The two players behind the goal are an attackmen and a midfielder. This is why we call it a “classic” set. Short and long are behind the cage to force match up changes.

Classic: Set Up • Set-up (Continued) The remaining four players want to position themselves in a diamond with X1 on the high crease approximately 7 yards above the goal in the middle of the field. X2 and X4 want to position themselves 10 yards above the goal and 5-7 yards to the right and left of X1. X3 wants to ling up about 13-15 yards above the goal in the middle of the field.

  21. Classic: Execution • Execution This offense starts with either a 1v1 dodge from M1 or A1, or with a two-man game between M1 and A1 (In this case M1 is going to be the dodger). If the dodger (M1) draws a slide, then X1 wants to cut behind his defender, which is known as “following the slide”. X2, X3, and X4 will perform a triangle rotation. X2 cuts through to the weak-side making sure to look for the ball in the event that his man slides…

  22. Classic: Execution • Execution (Continued) X3 rolls over to the ball-side to provide an outlet for the ball carrier (M1). X4 drifts to the middle of the field to find a skip lane for M1. A1 needs to follow M1 on the drive to provide an outlet and back up the goal if a shot occurs. If the initial dodge does not work, then X2 wants to throw the ball to either X3 or A1 who will attack the backside.

  24. M1 is going to attack the goal on the dodge, or off a two-man game. If he does not have a shot he wants to look at the crease for X1, or he wants to look ahead to X3 on the rollover, or he wants to rollback and throw the ball to A1 at “X”. Classic (M1 Dodges from “X”)

  25. Classic: Execution • Execution (If M1 Throws to X3) If M1 dodges and moves the ball ahead to X3 rolling over the top, X3 should look to the crease and then move the ball to the back side for X2 on the re-dodge.

  26. When X2 receives the pass after the cut through, he wants to immediately re-dodge, because the defense will be focused on the ball-side. When X3 receives the pass from M1 he wants to look at X2 and X1 on the crease, otherwise, he wants to move the ball immediately to X4 for the re-dodge on the backside. Classic (M1 Dodges from “X”)

  27. Classic: Execution • If M1 Throws Back To A1 If M1 throws back to A1, then A1 wants to attack the weak-side by dodging for a shot and looking to feed X2, X3 or X1.

  29. If A1 gets nothing on the re-dodge, he wants to look to the crease for X1, or he wants to skip to X4, or he wants to look directly ahead of him to X2. Classic (M1 Dodges from “X”)

Classic: Final Thoughts • Classic: Final Thoughts “Classic” can be run with a dodge to either side (all movements will be mirrored and reversed). “Classic” can also take advantage of a two-man game behind. We’re looking to get defensemen to switch off attackmen. At the higher levels, this offense can be run with players in any spot similar to the way “Single” might be run with an attackmen at “X” instead of a midfielder.
