The other day, we explained how Unico LLC variable speed drives can measure casing fluid level in ESP systems without the actual requirement of down-hole sensors. Although Unicou00ae variable speed drive is fully compatible with sensor-based control, it provides a more feasible method of sensorless down-hole measurement for Oil and Gas Wells. Today we share a case study on field test work carried out by Unico on an oil well located in West Texas. The well was already equipped with a Unicou00ae ESP variable speed drive. We installed the Unicou00ae fluid level measurement and control software to record tubing and casing pressure at the surface. The study compared the measurements received from the Unicou00ae drive with the Echometer gaseous and equivalent liquid columns. Unicou00ae drive was successful in providing continuous measurement and control of pump intake pressure and casing fluid level without the need of down-hole sensors.
