CPD Policy • FPH Board – Feb 2013 • CPD as a continuing process, outside formal undergraduate and postgraduate training, that enablesindividual doctors (and other public health specialists) to maintain and improve standards of medical (and public health) practice through the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviour • Good Medical Practice (GMC 2013) – 4 domains • Knowledge, skill and performance • Safety and quality • Communication, partnership and teamwork • Maintaining trust • Professional obligation/tool Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer

CPD Policy • All Members and Fellows of FPH, including Honorary Members and Fellows, must participate in the CPD scheme unless they are exempt • Recommends - all public health specialist participate in the FPH Scheme • Participants must have a new Personal Development Plan (PDP) each year, preferably developed as a result of professional appraisal • Participants must undertake at least 50 credits of CPD each year, at least 25 of which must be linked to their PDP • All credits claimed must be supported by a reflective note • A maximum of 5 credits may be claimed in any one reflective note • It is the responsibility of individuals to ensure they meet the requirements of the CPD Policy Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer

CPD Policy • Learning as part of your job • Group work, seminars and journal clubs • Conferences, workshops and educational meetings • Formal courses • Private study and reading • PH audit, appraisal and reflective practice • Training, teaching, examining and preparation time • Research • Organisational development activities • Inspection and review activities Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer

CPD Policy • Title and description of activity • What was the learning need or objective that was addressed? • What was the outcome of the activity? • Further learning needs • Why did I choose this activity for my CPD? • What did I learn from this activity or event? • How am I going to apply this learning in my work? • What am I going to do in future to further develop this learning and/or meet any gaps in my knowledge, skills or understanding? CPD Policy • 30 June - CPD returns from pervious cycle are due in (1st April – 31st March) • Early August selection of auditees • No – CPD certificates sent out (Late August) • Yes - deadline to return audit documentation (Mid September) • Mid December • Audit results and CPD certificates sent to those who were selected for audit Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer

CPD Policy • 250 credits in cycle • 50 credits per year (no more than 100) • At least 25 credits related to your PDP • PDP addresses both specific and general development • “maintaining public health competencies” • Max of 5 credits to be claimed in any one reflective notes • Min of 40 credits must be supported by a reflective note (good quality) • If submitted later than early August – audit sample next year Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer
