  1. Agriculture Competencies Type A – Students should master all non-underlined parts to expect a passing grade on unit test. Underlined parts are required knowledge for A grade on unit test and for students planning on passing AP test Type B – Students should master all parts to expect an A on the Unit test and to be in good position to pass AP test

  2. #9 – 1st Agricultural Revolution (A) • Explain basic events of Agricultural Revolution beginning around 8000 BC • Identify 4 (or more) of the first Agricultural Hearths, including the crops/animals that were domesticated there • Describe 3 (or more) direct effects of the Agricultural Revolution on human societies/populations

  3. #10 – 2nd Agricultural Revolution (B) • Explain the effect of the Enclosure Act • Identify technological advances in the 18th-19th centuries that increased agricultural production

  4. #11 – 3rd Agricultural Revolution (A) • Define the terms Green Revolution and Biorevolution • Describe the role of technology in the Green Revolution • Describe 2 (or more) negative effects of the Green Revolution • Describe various ways that farmers and consumers have reacted against the Green Revolution

  5. #12 – Shifting Cultivation (A) • Explain the process of shifting cultivation • Explain the advantage of slash & burn for ancient and tropical societies • Explain why shifting cultivation is expected to diminish in the future • Describe the current distribution of shifting cultivation

  6. #13 – Subsistence Agriculture (A) • Distinguish between wet rice and non rice subsistence agriculture • Describe the process of grain harvesting • Explain effect of subsistence agriculture on gender roles • Explain the diminishing extent of subsistence agriculture • Describe the current distribution of both types of intensive subsistence agriculture
