23. High Tech U What it is: 3-day hands-on experience at partner manufacturing and college sites Why it is important: • Example of a high quality CRLE • Engages students in high tech careers, science and math education

24. High Tech U STATUS: • Working with SEMI Foundation • First of two programs scheduled to begin November 2008

25. Regional Work Readiness Assessment What it is: A system to assess and certify work-readiness of job candidates. WIRED work will complement the initial assessment being implemented statewide by OED and CCWD at WorkSource centers Why it is important: • Increased employer satisfaction with referred candidates • Increased job retention

26. Regional Work Readiness Assessment STATUS: • Oregon Employment Division and CCWD have completed initial work • WIRED to proceed with planning and procurement • WorkSource staff training a primary component of implementation

WIRED Strategies & Deliverables • Alignment of Curriculum for Targeted Sectors What it is: Occupational profiling to develop/enhance curriculum that is responsive to needs of regional advanced manufacturers Why it is important: • Builds career pathways to meet current and future workforce needs • Links pathway developments in Oregon and Washington

28. Alignment of Curriculum for Targeted Sectors STATUS: • College staff hired and trained • Five occupational profiles completed • Participation of Washington colleges (Clark and Lower Columbia College) initiated
