  2. OVERVIEW An accomplished and highly respected businessman based in Oman, Dr P Mohamed Ali is a multifaceted personality known for his strong commitment in education and philanthropy. He has made significant contributions to the infrastructure development in Oman and India and is regarded as a caring patron of the large Indian expatriate community in the gulf region. Dr P Mohamed Ali is a Non-resident Indian businessman hailing from Thalikulam in Thrissur. He is the founder of Galfar Engineering and Contracting Co. Ali is ranked as the twelfth richest Indian ($950 million) in the Gulf region by Arabian Business.com. The Oman Government has awarded "Civil Order Grade Three" to him for the contribution to the country

  3. ACHIEVEMENTS Through his work at Galfar and his numerous social initiatives and projects, Dr. P Mohamed Ali has received many accolades from both the Omani government and those abroad. He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Science from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001. In 2002, he was presented the Oman Civil Order award from the representative of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, for his contribution to Oman in the business sectors, as well as for his social and education initiatives. Then in 2004 from Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali received the PravasiBharatiyaSamman award, for promoting the honor and prestige of India. In 2013, he was honoured with the PravasiDiwas, by the President of India for his contributions to the hospitality sector, as well as his support in developing the Cochin International Airport. This past year, he was awarded the Asian Business Leadership Forum Award (ABLF Award), for Business Courage 2013.

  4. CSR ACTIVITIES The uplift of his native village community was always close to Dr P Mohamed Ali ’s heart. In 2005, Dr P Mohamed Ali founded the TalikulamVikas Trust, to help his fellow villagers through a dream project envisaging ‘Education, Employment, House and Health for All’. This objective was achieved in 2010. The P.M. Foundation promotes education among backward communities and the CSM Central School teaches CBSE curriculum. Dr P Mohamed Ali is also the Chairman of Social Advancement Foundation of India (SAFI), an institution conceived to render educational help to socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society. This institutional complex was formally dedicated to the Nation by His Excellency Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India in November 2011.

  5. CSR ACTIVITIES Dr P Mohamed Ali ’s initiatives in the Oman’s education sector are legendary. These include an Indian School, where over 3500 Indian students study; the Caledonian College of Engineering, the Oman Medical College, training medical doctors and pharmacists, and the two operator’s institutes giving on-job training to Omani nationals. The combined student population of institutions promoted by P Mohamed Ali is over 10000. Dr P Mohamed Ali is a member of the Governing Body of the Council for Promotion of Overseas Employment, established by the Government of India. In Oman, Dr Mohamed Ali has been the founder Chairman of the Oman Society of Contractors (OSC); the Oman Petroleum Alliance (OPAL); and Vice Chairman of the Omanization Joint Committee, all high level bodies constituted by the Government of Oman.

  6. CONTRIBUTION TO UAE INFRASTRUCTURE P Mohamed Ali’s Galfar construction has always played a vital role in development of infrastructure sector in UAE. The Galfar group’s engagements cover the domains of civil & industrial construction; oil & gas; roads & bridges; manufacturing; heavy equipment; electrical & instrumentation; water & waste water management; education and hospitality. Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG (Galfar) is Oman’s largest construction company with EPC capability in Oil & Gas, Roads & Bridges and Civil, Marine Infrastructure and Utilities & Service sectors operating in Oman, other GCC countries as well as India. In a recent interview, p Mohamed Ali discussed insight UAE and Galfar construction plans on development and expansion. UAE is targeting to be the top most country in tourism and Galfar construction is leading the way to achieve that.
