2006 U.S. Oat Crown Rust Race Survey Results and Virulence Analysis

This report presents the findings of the 2006 U.S. Oat Crown Rust Race Survey conducted by M.L. Carson and G. Ochocki at the USDA Cereal Disease Lab in St. Paul, MN. It includes a comprehensive assessment of virulence in winter and spring oat regions, revealing winter oats had an average virulence of 15.5 (range 3-20) while spring oats had 14.8 (range 2-23). Notably, only three Avena accessions were found to be crown rust free: AC Leggett (Pc68 & Pc94), PI 258731 (WIR 5201; A. strigosa), and A. murphyii P12.
