Outcomes • A brief history of eMentoring in Kansas – moving from problem to solution. • Provide demonstration of the video observation platform and technology utilized to complete distance observations.
Nationally, nearly 50% of teachers leave before 5 years. In Kansas, on average 870 special education professionals leave special education each year. Kansas districts lose between 4 and 25% of their special education staff each year. This revolving door of teachers leaves students behind.

Of the 114 participating mentees, 101 submitted a total of 289 observations.
NTC Observation Cycle Pre- Observation Conference Post- Observation Conference Modify Instruction Observation
Virtual Observation New teacher uploads and watches video. Can annotate their reflection on the class. Mentor reviews video and captures data, and makes notes on video. Mentor/mentee prepare for post observation conference.
