Medical Terminology – List 2 • Analgesic – pain reliever • Anaphylaxis – severe allergic reaction • Anesthetic – substance that causes lack of feeling or awareness • Anomaly – deviation from the norm • Anoxia – lack of oxygen • Antagonist muscle – muscle that counteracts action of the agonist; muscle that opposes movement

Medical Terminology – List 2 • Anterior cruciate ligament – stops external rotation of the knee and anterior movement of the tibia • Anteroposterior – refers to the position of front to back • Antipyretic – fever reducer • Anxiety – feeling of uncertainty or apprehension • Apophysis – bone outgrowth to which muscle attaches • Appendages– arms and legs
