2. Characters • Lina: lina is a 12 year old girl. That picks pipe works for her first job but switches with Doon because Doon picked Messenger and that is Linas’ dream job because she loves to run. Lina lives with her Grandma and sister until her grandma dies. • Doon: Doon is a 12 year old boy. That works in the pipeworks and loves science but does not get how electricity works and is very interested in how the generator works. He lives with his dad in a apartment. • Mayor: The mayor is a very mean man who is stealing supplies from the city. • Mrs. Murdo: Mrs. Murdo takes care of Lina and lina’ssister after there grandma dies. • Linas’ grandma: Lina’sGrandma is trying to find instructions that lead out of Ember but Lina’s grandma dies before she could find the instructions.

3. Setting The story took place in the city of ember. The city of ember Is a very dark city with no sun light that gets it’s light from the generator. The city of ember takes place underground but they found that out later In the story.

4. Plot the problem in this story is that Ember is running out of supplies like light bulbs, food and tools. The reason all of the supplies is running out is because the mayor is keeping it all. Another problem is the guards are coming after lina and doon because they said that the mayor was stealing but the guards didn’t believe them. Also lina and doon couldn’t find out what the scrambled up words meant to get out of Ember

5. Solution They told the one of the guards that mayor was stealing but they came after them because they thought that was lie but in wasn’tDoon hid by the pipeworks door and Lina was on the roof of a building because the guards were right by her and so they finally met at the door of the pipeworks while everyone was singing in the city. They eventually found the directions out and they took a boat with candles and matches down the river in the pipeworks they did find the new city and met people who lived there.
