Grammar Notes:Case Names and Functions Cases: endings on nouns showing how they “function” in a sentence…WHAT Functions: subject, direct object, indirect object, possession, object of prepositions, direct address…every noun has a JOB to perform in the sentence…it can ONLY perform 1 job at a time!!!

  2. Case Name/Function, pg. 2 Latin Case Names Function of Noun NOMINATIVE: Subject, Predicate Noun/Adjective GENITIVE: Shows Possession DATIVE: Indirect Object ACCUSATIVE: Direct Object; Object of some prepositions ABLATIVE: Object of SID SPACE prepos. VOCATIVE: Direct Address

  3. Case Name/Function, pg. 3 NO GOOD DOG ACCEPTS ABUSE VERBALLY!!! (mnemonic device for order of case names)

  4. QUIZ!!!Next Block!!!Be able to list the case names in order and spelled correctly. Be able to tell what the function of each noun.
