Manufacturer pilots & licences validation • Airbus petitioned for an exemption to 14 CFR 61.77 (a) • Exemption granted on July 28, 1999 - valid for 2 years ONLY • Exemption N° 6850 A, then extension for 2 years more by N° 6850B • Pilots and Flight engineer employed by Airbus are eligible for the issuance of Special Purpose Pilot Authorizations for the purpose of performing ferry and delivery flights of US registered airplanes between foreign countries and from a foreign countries to the US. • A more flexible procedure would be welcome for “temporary validation / conversion of ATPL or CPL/IR certificates for the purpose of supporting introduction of new commercial jet transports. • This issue is a subject of discussion in FAA / JAA harmonization meeting for several years • Flight categories to be considered are : - flight instruction, line flying - delivery / ferry flights, - flight demonstrations for sales support
