  2. Software needed • SeureCRT • WinSCP • Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client • http://www.auburn.edu/oit/vpn/ • Xming • Download the 1st three setup files from AU Install. • https://fp.auburn.edu/oit/hardware_software/auinstall/login.aspx

  3. SecureCRT • Download and run the SecureCRT setup. • After installation, run the program. • Choose Engineering and click connect. • If prompted, enter your credentials. • Right-click on Engineering and go to Properties. • Go to Port Forwarding  Remote/X11 and check the box Forward X11 packets.

  4. WinSCP • Download and install WinSCP from setup. • Choose File Protocol as “SFTP”. • Host name: scp.eng.auburn.edu • Port no.: 22 • Enter your credenials. • Leave private key as blank. • Click Login, you may be asked to save a key, accept it.

  5. XMing • Download Xming from http://www.straightrunning.com/XmingNotes/ • Download and install the circled setup files. • When installing X-Ming fonts, make sure to select all the fonts.

  6. Troubleshooting • Make sure to run XMing first before running SecureCRT so as to run the EDA Tools. • If you want to access the tools or your filesfrom off campus, make sure to run Cisco AnyConnect VPN first. • You cannot name only an .ext file (.bashrc) in Windows, it has to be done in the shell prompt (SecureCRT). • Open shell prompt (SecureCRT), type “mvsample.bashrc .bashrc”. This creates your .bashrc file which loads all the CAD libraries when you start CRT. • If you already have a .bashrc file set up, you can copy the contents of the sample file into your original file.

  7. Alternatively… • Go to http://vdi.eng.auburn.edu • You might be asked to download Citrix receiver. If not, you can get it at: http://www.citrix.com/products/receiver/overview.html • There are versions for all types of Oses (Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, iOS). • It is a virtual desktop emulator, and will emulate the desktop as it is on the lab computers. • If accessing from off-campus, you need to connect through your vpn.
