The Littleford Day Three Roll Dispersion Mill will help you produce a better product faster and at less cost. To insure dispersion of the highest quality, every component is des- igned for precise accuracy, maximum rigidity & ultra-smooth operation. To meet today´s high-speed production require- ments, all elements of the mill frame and drive are specially constructed to transmit the maximum amount of power with the least amount of vibration. * BASED ON HEAVY PASTE MIX (Aprox. 14 Lbs/Gal) USING AN AVERAGE DISPERSION FILM THICKNESS OF .0005”.

Our “Dial-A-Grind” sys- tem assures accuracy, with a better grind & dispersion than with a hand-set mill. It is simple to operate- to set up & reset. It permits an operator to set his mill from a single location, assu- red that roll pull-up will be even & smooth. Instant release & reset is accomplished with a single switch. Apron pressure is contro- led from the same panel. HYDRAULIC ROLL SET A simple adjustment controls both roll position & pressure, hydraulically. The most advanced roll setting device on the market, it maintains continuously accurate roll settings, pro- viding finer dispersions & assuring extra production through reduced operarator adjustment time. Hydraulic pressure is used to actuate pistons, which in turn , control roll position and pressure. A diaphragm, located between the fluid & pis- ton prevents leakage of fluid thus assuring absolute const- ant roll pressure, uniformly high product quality. Intercon- nected cylinders at each end of the roll equalizes and bala- nced forces across the roll. All back roll cylinders have sa- fety rupture discs. Hydraulic roll setting is available as op- tional equipment on new mills, or as a field conversion kit for existing type B mills. HIGHEST QUALITY CHILLED ROLLS Cast from special electric furnace steel and chilled to provide hard, accurate surfaces. Our rolls give the highest grinding efficien- cy and long life. Chamber boring and thin walls insure uniform cooling over the entire roll surface and eliminate uneven expansion. Beveled design of roll end provides more usable roll area, hence more grinding area. Cooling is beyond the surface area. EFFICIENT END GUIDES Which confine product to the wor- king surfaces of the rolls. Made of bronze, the guides & replacement tips are precision bored & scrap- ed to perfectly fit the radius of the rolls. The hopper is formed by two steel plates between the end gui- des which lift out for easy clean- ing. Optional Lift-Type guides lift out vertically for quick clean up, and have an automatic reset feature which allows return to position without readjustment. A: FIXED CENTER ROLL CONVERTIBLE ROLLS All mills, except the 5” x 12” model are provided with rolls capable of being operated with a fixed center roll, or converted to Float - A - Roll operation in which center roll “ floats ” and all mill roll adjustments are made from one end of the mill Apron Roll Center Roll Feed Roll Replaceable Tip in Guide Plate B: FLOAT-A-ROLL

  4. Littleford Day Roll Mills Precision Engineered For Top Production Of Highest Quality Dispersions. ROLL REGRINDING & MILL REBUIDING To keep roll mills performing at top production, rolls should be reground periodically to eliminate worn, pitted or gouged surfa- ces. Littleford Day mantains a complete roll regrinding facility, complete with the equipment and experienced personnel nece- ssary to insure the perfect performance of your reground rolls.. Every set of rolls received for grinding undergoes a thorough inspection. Rolls are checked for size and hardness; bearings gears and shafts for proper tolerances; and guides for leakage. Rolls are reground and, if necessary gears are recut, shafts sleeved and guides rebored. After reassembly every set of rolls is tested under operating conditions to insure perfect grinds. When trouble symptoms appear, such as improper dispersion, unusual vibration or operating noises, complete mill rebuild- ing may be required. In rebuiding your roll mill, the machine is completely dismantled. Each part is checked for wear or fracture , rolls are reground, gears recut, and the handwheel adjustment or hydraulic roll set device is thoroughly inspec- ted and adjusted. The motor is also carefully inspected, clea- ned and reconditioned. All parts are cleaned and every pain- ted surface completely refinished.
