  1. Acoustic Mission Planner (AMP) for the MH-60R Daniel H. Wagner Associates, Inc. - www.wagner.com AMP (based on Wagner’s Search and Surveillance Planning System (SSPS)) creates probability maps showing target position at a specific time based on both contact reports (positive information) and searches with no detections (negative information). AMP also generates recommended ALFS dipping sonar and passive and active sonobuoy patterns. Sensor effectiveness is calculated using in-situ Sound Speed Profiles and Ambient Noise and the resulting sensor coverage maps are displayed to the operator. AMP communicates with the shipboard Mission Planning Station (MPS) and the MH-60R Avionics Operational Program (AOP) using common message formats and a TCP/IP connection. AMP maintains a real-time estimate of target position by modifying the weights of individual sample paths based on positive and negative information and an estimate of target tactics. AMP was integrated into the MH-60R avionics and shipboard mission planning system (MPS) under a subcontract from Lockheed Martin Systems Integration – Owego. The MH-60R and AMP have been through Developmental Test and OPEVAL. SSPS is a general purpose research tool that models target motion and evaluates the effects of search. SSPS has been built on years of success with anti-submarine search and surveillance in all theaters. Recommended ALFS pattern (small circles around each dip point), based on probability map generated by Monte Carlo search model, using an initial circular datum. Estimated target position at end of search, assuming the ALFS search does not detectthe target. Recommended ALFS pattern against target in an Area of Interest and coverage by that recommended pattern in a non-homogeneous environment. • Components of the AMP: • Acoustic Environmental Prediction (AEP) • Acoustic Sensor Performance Prediction (ASPP) • Acoustic Target Area of Uncertainty (ATAOU) • Acoustic Sensor Set-Up Recommendation (ASSR) • Acoustic Sensor Deployment Recommendation (ASDR) SSPS/AMP were supported by Phase II SBIR programs at Naval Surface Warfare Systems Center-Dahlgren Division, NAVAIR PMA-299, and Lockheed Martin Systems Integration – Owego. Distribution A: Approved for Public Release; Distribution is unlimited.
