SHORT-TERM OUTCOMES INTERIM OUTCOMES LONG-TERM OUTCOMES STRATEGIES • Increased knowledge/ awareness of coalition members of: • Risks associated with use and exposure to tobacco products and tobacco marketing • Best practices for reducing the use and exposure to tobacco products and tobacco marketing in Kansas Identify, fund and support implementation of best practices in decreasing the use of and exposure to tobacco products and tobacco marketing. Increased community knowledge about health risks associated with the use and exposure to tobacco products and marketing Impact: The health of all Kansans has improved through reducing tobacco use and exposure Community norms support healthy behaviors and environments Increased community support and involvement in advocating against tobacco products and marketing Design HCI 2 RFP using evidence based/best practices Distribute RFP widely to communities throughout Kansas Communicate purpose of the HCI 2 grant and best practices in decreasing the use of and exposure to tobacco products and marketing through two-day RFP conference Select the strongest proposals through a systematic review process Provide technical assistance to grantees around coalition building/planning/ evaluation and leadership development throughout grant period. Focus of TA will be around HCI 2 policies and practices that facilitate reducing the use of and exposure to tobacco products and marketing. Support creation of, and activities implemented by, statewide advisory group Increased effectiveness of coalitions/communities in advocating against anti-tobacco policies Sustained effective leadership that promotes anti-tobacco practices and policies Strengthening of coalition/local leadership team: increased skills, collaboration and leadership within coalitions to advocate for anti-tobacco policies Increased champions within community among influencers/ policymakers/ decision-makers Decreased tobacco use among community members Increased # and types of key players in coalition – including unlikely suspects Promoting Healthy Behaviors of Kansans: Decreasing Tobacco Use and Exposure RFP Initiative Logic Model Increased motivation and opportunities for evidence-supported anti-tobacco policy within community Decreased exposure to secondhand smoke among community members Increased ability of coalitions to form and cultivate partnerships with community stakeholders including schools, workplaces etc., that support anti-tobacco policies Policies and/or practices are implemented in grantee communities that decrease use and exposure to tobacco products and marketing Increased awareness among policy/ decision-makers regarding the importance of anti-tobacco policies and practices Increased resources dedicated within community to implementing anti-tobacco practices and policies
