  2. The Olympic Charter “a philosophy exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of the body, will and mind which by blending sport with culture and education seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principals” • Critically discuss the extent to which you think the notion of Olympianism is still reflected in the modern Olympic Games using examples to highlight your arguments

  3. The Right to Host? • We increasingly witness developing and emerging nations bidding for the right to host mega sporting events critically discuss the opportunity cost of such bids and the hosting of these events • What factors do you think governing bodies should take into account when deciding who to award the right to host the event? • Finally, think about the power held by sanctioning bodies such as the IOC, what impact do you think this has on hosts, the event and sport more widely?
