Medieval Clothing. The clothing of the wealthy citizens tended to be elaborate, and was influenced by the kings and queens of their time. Clothing was usually made of wool, with undergarments that were made of linen.

Medieval Clothing • The clothing of the wealthy citizens tended to be elaborate, and was influenced by the kings and queens of their time. • Clothing was usually made of wool, with undergarments that were made of linen. • Clothing of better materials and brighter colors indicated the status of a citizen.

  2. Kings, Nobles, and Lords

Knights and Clergy Knights- • The under clothes of a knight consisted of linen under-shirt and linen under-pants. • A padded garment known as am Aketon, Arming Coat or Doublet consisted of a quilted coat, sewn or staffed with linen or even grass. • The last layer of clothing was a Surcoat, tied with a belt around the waist.
