NEONATAL ICU BACKGROUND • Neonatal mortality accounts for most infant mortality in India • Neonatal mortality is closely associated with low birth weight (<1400gms,30 weeks) and VLBW (<500gms,26 weeks) premature babies • Premature delivery accounts for most LBW/VLBW • Social disadvantage is associated with pre term delivery

  4. NEONATAL ICU THE NEED NICU plays a critical role in reducing infantmortality rate (IMR) in poor urban populations Even in a metro city like Bangalore only some private hospitals have NICU and are expensive An NICU at a nominal cost will benefit many and save the babies.

  5. Neonatal ICU OUR PROPOSAL • TO SET UP A 8 BED NEONATAL ICU in Rangadore Memorial Hospital , in Bangalore which provides health care support to all sections of society at very nominal costs. • Project cost Approx 50,000 US $

Neonatal ICU Rangadore Memorial Hospital It is a state of the art centre established in 2007, by leading doctors in Bangalore in association with a well known institution to provide excellent health care to the needy at affordable prices. It is a 100 bed hospital. (see www.rangadorememorialhospital for all details ) Our Rotary Dist is associated with this Institution for the last 10 years and are running many continuous projects here.

  9. NEONATAL ICU • FINANCIALS • The cost of all the equipment shown above is approximately INR 2.20 million (US$ 50,000) All the equipment is available locally Rangadore memorial Hospital has allocated the necessary area for the NICU
