  2. Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Buttoning These instructions assume the buttons are on the right side of the garment and the button hole is on the left. Reverse the instructions if you have buttons on the left and the button holes on the right.

  3. Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Buttoning To start buttoning take your right index finger and thumb to pinch the button on the right side.

  4. Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Buttoning Use your left index finger and thumb to pinch the fabric and push your thumb slightly into the button hole.

  5. Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Buttoning • Push the button until you hit your thumb you know you have found the button hole. Push the button through the hole until your left thumb and index finger can grasp it. • Use your right index finger and thumb to pull on the fabric at the same time until the button pops through.

  6. Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind UnButtoning To unbutton hold the button with the left index finger on top of the button and the thumb under the button. Hold the edge of the fabric with your right.

  7. Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind UnButtoning • Fold the fabric over your left index finger and push the button through the hole. • Grab the button with your right index finger and thumb and pull the button out.
