  3. Why do we cast this way? Professionalism. We strive to be professional in every aspect of production. This step is no different. Efficient Process. We need to have the opportunity to see as many talent as possible, and our process accomplishes that task. Less Stress. It’s already a stressful and energetic environment, if all casting teams follow the same guidelines, we reduce the stress factor. Actors Response. Talent have told us, they enjoy the process that we have established at Full Sail and many others copy the way we do it.

What makes a great casting location…. • Place: • Local Theatre, School, Cinema, • Hotel Convention/Multi-room • Waiting area: • Need an area for actors to read, • sign paperwork, congregate The Casting Location: Quiet room with ventilation Note: Please do not re-arrange the casting room. At Full Sail: We do not provide food & beverages for the talent (in the casting lobby).

Casting Notice • (Only Post after approval) • Mass email database • Online postings… • Facebook at Full Sail: Casting • Craigslist (Orlando) The Casting Flyer and Notice: NOTE: Do not post flyers on Full Sail Campus. We discourage the use of Full Sail students and instructors as talent. When posting on other School’s Campuses, please get the “permission” stamp first.

  6. Casting The Casting Paperwork: (show paperwork) Casting Notice Sign-in Evaluation Casting Information Release NOTE: Full Sail will make copies of this paperwork for your team.

  7. Casting DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY OF CASTING TO GET YOUR SIDES AND BIOS COPIED! We will notcopy them for you on the day of.

  8. The Casting Session: (Session: 1pm to 9pm) Sides & Bios Who are these people and is this info needed? (30 copies of each side & bio) Full name and its significance The importance of the age Ethnicity: Is it important, relevant to the story’s movement Social Class: Low (LL,ML,HL) Middle (LM, MM, HM) and High (LH, MH, HH) Background: How have they come to be apart of this story Personality: What personality developments has made this character who he/she is. Specific wardrobe and physical requirements, if needed.

  9. The Casting Session: (Call time: Noon) The actors will come into the building of Full Sail 3F. They will follow the signs to the casting lobby. The actors will sign in with the Casting Secretary. Give the talent about 10 to 15 minutes (minimum) to review the paperwork and read the script. The Casting Secretary will hand out the sides & bios, collect paperwork such as headshots and tells the runner which talent is next to take them to the casting room. The Casting Runner then escorts to the room and introduces talent to team. The Casting Director introduces the casting team to the talent. Slate…….

  10. The Casting Session: (Session: 1pm to 9pm) The Casting Director then asks about the talent. Performance background Interesting production experiences Past residency experiences The Casting Director asks about the character. “Tell me who the character is?” “What is your impression of the character?” The talent reads side. The Casting Assistant may assist if needed. Add direction and repeat #8, if necessary Thank them for their time and move on to next talent.

  12. Casting Casting Under-18 Actors: Once you cast the under-18 actor, you must fill out thePermit to Hireform. This form can be found on the casting section of the www.FSProducingclass.com website or through your Full Sail staff Production Supervisor. After each the production completion of employment in Florida, the employer shall submit to the Division a completed Final Report, Form DBPR FCL 1003. This form can be found on the casting section of the www.FSProducingclass.com website or through your Full Sail staff Production Supervisor. Child Labor Coordinator: The employer shall designate one (1) individual on each set where minors are employed, or in each touring company which includes minor employees, to act as Coordinator of Child Labor. The coordinator shall respond to all communications from the division regarding the employment of minor(s). Work Day. The work day for a minor shall begin no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and shall end no later than 11:30 p.m. Work Week.   13. Call back or contact talent who you will use for your production. “Hello, my name is _________, and I am from the production of ___________. We would like to offer you the role of ___________________. Rehearsals start on ___________ and the shoot dates are _______.” Contact and have back-ups…. Confirm their contact information and give them your email. Extras:This is a perfect time to contact your extra/atmosphere and featured talent.
