Text Standards • Minimum recommended text height on engineering drawings is .125” • All other dimension numbers, notes, and other text information • Titles, subtitles, captions, revision info - .188” • Fractions
Scale Factors for Text Height • Scale factor is a reciprocal of the drawing scale • To find the AutoCAD text height, multiply desired text height (.125) by the scaling factor.
AutoCAD Text Styles • Type ST • Format->Text Style • Create a new text style
Using AutoCAD to draw text • Type MTEXT • Draw->Text->Multiline • Toolbar • Keystroke shortcuts on pg 254 • Text Editor ShortCut Menu (right click on while typing text)
Single Line Text • Type TEXT • Draw->Text->Single Line Text
Using Quick Text Mode • Qtext • Speeds redrawing and regen by causing text to be displayed as rectangles
