  2. 1st period class Occupational Preparation 1 Occupational Preparation 4 Goals & Objectives: Implementation of self-determination skills needed for transition planning & adjustment to adult life Apply decision-making skills in areas of career development, personal management & interpersonal skills. Apply knowledge of work behaviors, habits & skills to obtain, maintain & advance in a chosen career pathway. Complete & present the Career Portfolio This course will introduce students to the attitudes, behaviors and habits needed to obtain and maintain employment. Students will participate in learning activities focusing on the development of work ethic, job-seeking skills, decision-making skills and self-management. Students will also be involved in on-campus vocational training activities

  3. Class Expectations • Be in class when the tardy bell rings. • Bring ALL materials to class each day. • Respect yourself, your teacher & your classmates. • Follow all written & oral directions. • A bottled drink (with a lid) will be allowed in class.

  4. MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS EVERYDAY!! COMPUTER EARBUDS FLASHDRIVE PAPER PENCIL OR PEN BINDER OR FOLDER

  5. Bathroom Policy • Students should use the time before school, between classes & their lunchtime to use the restroom. Each student will receive 6 bathroom passes for the semester. If it is necessary to go during class time, the student will be allowed to go at the completion of or during a break in the teacher’s instruction. • Make wise choices! This 6 passes must last you the entire semester.

  6. Grading Occupational Preparation 1 Occupational Preparation 4 You will have 2-3 tests/projects each 6 weeks. Quizzes will be given 1-2 times per week. Notes will periodically be checked for a grade. Completion & presentation of the Career Portfolio will count as your exam grade. You will be graded on classwork and tests. • Students will have 3-6 tests per 6 weeks. Quizzes will be taken 1-2 times per week. Students are expected to take notes on the teacher’s instruction & these will be checked periodically for a grade. • You will be graded on classwork, tests, and participation in school-based activities.

  7. Earning OCS Program Hours • As part of the Occupational Course of Study, you will need to earn the following hours: • 300 School Based Hours – This includes computer assignments & any activities done on campus that serve to assist or improve the school environment in some way. • 240 Community Based Hours – This will be accomplished in Occupational Preparation 2&3, while being supervised in an off campus job setting. • 360 Paid Work Hours – These hours are to be earned by the student in a competitive pay job setting. The student turns in check stubs for documentation of hours earned.

  8. Make Up Work • It is the student’s responsibility to make up work when they are absent. • Your assignments will be placed in a folder until you return. These assignments should be made up as soon as possible.

  9. Laptop / Computer Usage • You are responsible for bringing your laptop, fully charged, to school each day. • The computer is to be used for educational activities only, AND, in accordance with the teacher’s direction.

  10. Daily Procedures • The 1st bell rings each day at 7:20. this gives you plenty of time to do the following: • Use the restroom • Take out / prepare materials for class (ie., sharpen pencil, take out laptop, etc. • Read Flow Map on the board for expectations & assignments for the day • Get in your seat.

  11. Daily Expectations • Be seated when the tardy bell rings • Stand for Pledge • Listen to announcements • Begin Warm Up
