  2. Old Testament • God initiates covenant with Israel • Mount Sinai: Agreement mediated through Moses called Mosaic covenant or testament • Prophets speak of Israel breaking its covenant with God • Prediction of a new covenant. See Jer 31:31

  3. New Testament • Christians believe that Jesus inaugurated a new covenant with the Last Supper (see Matt 26:27-28. • For Christians Jewish Scriptures dealing with older mosaic covenant came to be known as Old Testament • Greek writings about Jesus as New Testament
