Curriculum Council Purpose The following points describe the purpose of the AUSD Curriculum Council: • Voice for teachers at each site with regards to curriculum and instruction • Bridge between all stakeholders • Outlet for teachers to express and address needs, suggestions, ideas, concerns, and solutions • To provide uniformity and equity with regards to communication, curriculum, instruction, and assessment

  3. Assessments Update • SRI and SMI – After reviewing the assessments and their purpose with Cabinet, Curriculum Council and Scholastic, mid-year administration of these assessments for students in grades K-1 have been suspended. • Students in 2nd -6th grades will take the mid-year SRI/SMI assessments by January 30th. • Gains analyses of these assessments will be shared with Curriculum Council as soon as they become available.

  4. Assessments Update • Interim Comprehensive Assessments (ICAs)– The state has again delayed the ICA’s until February. Principals have been advised to work with their site staffs to determine other curriculum-embedded assessments to guide instructional planning. • These assessments will be scored and entered into EdCaliber or OARS.

  5. Assessments Update • Mid-Year writing benchmark materials were delivered January 13th for administration by January 23rd. • Results will be uploaded in OARS by January 30th.

  6. Assessments Update • Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC/CSTs)- The window for the SBAC end-of-year assessments will open April 7th and continue for up to 12 weeks as needed. • All SBAC is projected to be completed by May 15th. • Science CSTs and DMAs will be administered from May 4th to May 15th.

  7. GLTs • A second round of GLTs has begun. The calendar started January 13th and concludes on March 27, just before Spring Break. • During this round, BT teachers will have the opportunity to collaborate with other BT teachers. • System 44 Pull-Out teachers will collaborated and plan around System 44 curriculum.

  8. Engage NY Math Trainings • The 6th Grade training for Engage NY Math will begin January 24th. • 7th Grade teachers from Salinas Union H.S. District will be invited to attend and stay for an articulation session. • BONUS: Late registration will be accepted for the 6th Grade session until Wed., Jan. 21 at 5PM to accommodate for the delivery of this reminder to AUSD site staff on Jan. 20. (see flyer for registration details)
