  3. Register • The journal EM URL can be found in the guidelines of the journal on our JB website: http://www.benjamins.com/#authors/journalsubmissions • On the homepage of the EM site click on ‘Register’ in the menu bar • Enter the requested information and click on ‘Continue >>’

  4. Author main menu • Above is your main menu • Click on ‘Submit New Manuscript’ to submit a paper/article.

  5. Submission • Select an article type: Article, Book Review, etc. (depending on the journal you have chosen) • Enter a full title (required) and a short title (optional) and click ‘Next’.

  6. If there are more authors you can add them by clicking ‘Add Author’, enter the required info and click on ‘Submit and Add Another Author’. • If you are the only author, click ‘Next’. • Select a Section/Category: Choose ‘Other’ if it’s a regular article and hit the ‘Next’ button.

  7. Enter the abstract of your paper and click on ‘Next’. • Enter keywords (optional) and click on ‘Next’.

  8. Answer the three questions and click on ‘Next’. • Enter your comments if you have any and click on ‘Next’.

  9. To upload your article click on the ‘Browse…’ button. • Select the article on your computer and click on ‘Attach This File’. • After the file appears below you can press the button ‘Next’.

  10. Click on ‘Build PDF for my Approval’ so the system can convert your source file into a PDF. • If you have missed a section in the submission process, the system will let you know with a notification saying which info is required for submission. • While the PDF is being build you will be redirected to the submission by clicking on the link ‘Submissions Waiting for Author’s Approval’.

  11. You will receive an e-mail saying that the PDF of your submission is ready for approval. • Click on ‘View Submission’ in the Action Links of the submission, since you first have to view it before you can approve or edit it. • If it looks good you click on ‘Approve Submission’ in the Action Links. If you think something needs to be changed, you can click on ‘Edit Submission’, attach an altered version of your manuscript and repeat the process of building and approving the PDF. • After you have approved the PDF it will move to the folder ‘Submissions Being Processed’ in your main menu. You will receive a notification as soon as an Editor is assigned to your submission or a decision has been made.
