SINGS NIR Ancillary Data - Status

As of November 2002, a comprehensive review of galaxy data reveals varying quality across 9 galaxies with good data in 3 bands, 13 with uncalibrated data, and 28 displaying reliable data in at least one band. A total of 25 galaxies lacked good data. Notably, the January 2002 update indicated 11 galaxies with good data in 3 bands and 44 without any reliable data. Ongoing observations and data reductions are in progress, with specific galaxies like M.81 and NGC.6946 requiring calibration improvements.

  2. Observing Steward observing run in December 9 galaxies below -30 dec. with no good data 18 galaxies greater than 5' in size with no good data, including NGC 2403 (22') Data Reduction and Observing • Data Reduction • 17 galaxies have all available data reduced • PISCES data reduction in progress • No CTIO data reduced yet?

  3. Some Possible Priorities • M 81 (largest galaxy) done but needs calibration • M 82 has poor data • NGC 3184 (validation target) has no data • M 51 has poor data • NGC 6946 has good, reduced H & K but needs J
