  1. Gold Medallist Visits Villiers High School New Zealand ParalympianGold Medallist Tim Prendergast visited Villiers High School as part of the Skysports Living for Sport scheme, which uses sport stars and sports skills to improve the lives of thousands of young people. He inspired and motivated students with the story of his own journey and how he overcame life’s challenges to excel in athletics. Tim spent the morning with the Year 11 pupils’ giving a presentation on motivation and he drew on his own experiences to motivate and inspire the pupils to further their lives through sport. Thirteen boys who have been participating in the scheme were also put through their paces in a vigorous athletic and teambuilding session in which they learnt a number of new skills. ‘This was a fantastic way to end the 10 week scheme that they have been working on, not just for sport but the life lessons they have learnt. Perhaps most importantly, the students have seen that sport can teach them so much more than they might expect. Whether it be the social skills needed to make friends and be a team player or the determination and focus required to do a job and do it well, we all recognise that sport is a force for good that touches so many areas of our lives. Sky Sports Living for Sport is really helping them be the best they can be’ commented PE teacher Mr Jones who has been running the scheme.
