  2. Who we used to be… The Hispanic Health Professions Organization was established at The University of Texas at Austin as the National Chicano Health Organization. Their mission was to provide cultural fellowship for health, pre-med, and pre-dental students. Years later, the organization was changed to Mexican American Health Professions Organization.

  3. Who we are now… Throughout the years, HHPO evolved to an organization that acts as a stepping stone for students interested in health careers. HHPO is the largest organization in the College of Natural Science!

  4. Our Mission Our purpose is to provide pre-health profession students with academic resources, opportunities in clinical settings and peer support. Furthermore, HHPO strives to promote cultural fellowship, as well as impact Hispanic health through service and education in underrepresented communities.

Community Development • HHPO develops underserved communities by facilitating health-related services and providing education which addresses pertinent healthcare disparities. • This is facilitated by glucose screenings at least twice a semester. • Programming to bring awareness of health issues to both the UT campus and Austin community alike. • Events that bring in High School students to learn more about UT and it’s College of Natural Science and Engineering.

Your Social Director • I have been an active member of HHPO for one year, I have been in Ransom Notes A cappella for one year, and in high school I was President of the Choir, and Captain of the Tennis Team! • I am Pre-Med, looking to attend medical school in the hopes of helping children around the world in the field of pediatrics. Later on I would like to better the community in the FDA or CDC. • As Social Director, I will be leading our social activities as an organization, so we can all get to know each other and have fun at this amazing University. This includes IM Sports, mixers/parties, Study Groups, MCAT activities, and THE BOAT PARTY!
