National Seminar on Developing A Program for the Implementationof the2008 SNA and Supporting Statistics in Turkey 10 September 2013 / Ankara - Turkey INBOUND TOURISM Departing Visitors Survey Purpose • tocollectthe data on departingvisitorsresident in abroad; • Profiles (nationality, age, gender, educational status, working status, income level), • Travel characteristics (purpose of the travel, place visited, types of accommodation, number of overnights), • amount of expenditure • and to estimate tourism income

Data collection • Face to face interview by surveyers using questionnaire prepared in 25 languages at 25 border gates • GSM companies to include GSM roaming incomes • Marina businesses to include marina’s service charges

Classification • All variables and items are compatible with World Tourism Organization (WTO) and Eurostat definitions. • For general occupational status, ISCE-93 is used. • Foreducational status, ISCED-97 is used. • Eurostat geographical country groups and codes, 2010 is used according to geographical classifications.

HOUSEHOLD DOMESTIC TOURISM National Seminar on Developing A Program for the Implementationof the2008 SNA and Supporting Statistics in Turkey 10 September 2013 / Ankara - Turkey Objectives of Survey • To collect detailed information on domestic tourism for the demand side. • To calculate the expenditures of domestic tourism • To get distribution of trips by types of accommodation • To get distribution of domestic visitors by regions Scope of Survey • The Nomenclature of Territorial Units for • Statistics ( NUTS I), • 12 regions in Turkey, is defined by EuroStat • Citizens and foreigners resident in Turkey above the age of 14

Type of data collections • Data are collected from members of households quarterly. The survey is being applied with face to face interviews by using computer.
