  2. What is a Profile? • Keeps all personal data and settings • My Documents, My Pictures, My Music • Internet Favorites and Tracking Cookies • Desktop wallpaper and recently opened documents • Personalization and Playlists

What is Active Directory? • Implementation of LDAP • Used primarily by Windows based operating systems • Provides central authentication services • Stores information and settings in a central, organized, accessible database • Small to Large Networks • Administrators can: • Assign policies • Deploy Software • Apply critical updates

  4. File and Settings Transfer Wizard • Creates an archive of the users profile • Used to migrate profiles • Integrated into Windows XP • Does not add computer to Active Directory

  5. User Profile Wizard • Created by ForensIT, LTD. • Used to reassign profiles • Used to add computer to AD • Features include: • Deleting profiles • Sharing profiles • Disabling profiles
