  1. Melting Jelly Beans By Erin Phelps, Chelsea Rose and Sarah Colangelo

  2. Aim • To see how long it takes to melt a jelly beans and view its state and shape after the prac

  3. Apparatus • Bunsen Burner • Tripod • Gauze mat • Heat proof mat • 250ml beaker • Gummy bears • 2x jelly beans • filter paper • Metal test tube holder • water

  4. Method • Set up equipment • Put water in beaker and set on top of equipment • Turn on gas and turn to blue flame • Pace gummy bear and jelly beans in beaker • Record results every 30 seconds and record state of gummy lollies

  5. Risk Assessment • Gas and fire are hot • Do not touch Bunsen burner after use • Beaker will be hot and can break

  6. Hypothesis • We think that they will melt slowly but the gummy bears will melt faster than the jelly beans because the jelly beans have a hard coat.

  7. RESULTS

  8. Conclusion • That the gummy bear melt quite fast and if we were to keep going, the jelly beans would maybe melt.
