Goin Strain. What is a Groin Strain?. A bruise, stretching, or tearing of muscle fibers which run from the front of the hip bone to the inside of the thigh. These 'hip-adductor' muscles, namely the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, and the gracilis. How does it happen?.

  2. What is a Groin Strain? • A bruise, stretching, or tearing of muscle fibers which run from the front of the hip bone to the inside of the thigh. • These 'hip-adductor' muscles, namely the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, and the gracilis.

  3. How does it happen? • Overuse. • Poor warm-up prior to activities. • Sudden movements, such as initiating a sprint, cutting, Jumping, or landing wrong after jumping. • Poor mechanics while lifting heavy objects. • A forceful contact with an external object

  4. Sports known for groin Strains... • Running • Hurdles • Long jump • Basketball • Soccer • Football • Rugby

  5. Signs and Smyptoms... • Pain and tenderness in the groin area • Stiffness in the groin area • Weakness of the adductor muscles • Bruising in the groin area (if blood vessels are broken) • Popping or snapping sensation as the muscle tears (possibly)

  6. Treatment! Treatment depends on the severity of the strain. Treatment usually includes: - Rest - - Ice- - Pain Relief Medications - - Compression - - Heat - - Stretching -

You can go back when... • You have full range of motion in the injured leg. • Your leg has regained normal strength. • You are able to jog, run, or sprint straight ahead without limping • You are able to cut at full speed without pain • You are able to jump on both legs without pain • You are able to jump on the injured leg without pain
